Africa’s Athletes Deserve More Than Performance; They Deserve Support.
19-20 November 2026, The Cloud Hotel & Suites: Diamond Plaza, 3rd Parklands, Nairobi, Kenya.
The Sports Wellness Summit 2026 is where conversations become solutions. Bringing together athletes, sports leaders, health professionals, innovators, policymakers, and development partners, the summit focuses on advancing athlete wellbeing, mental health, inclusion, safeguarding, researchers, innovation, and sustainable sports development.
Together, we are building stronger support systems, healthier sporting environments, and sustainable pathways that enable athletes to thrive both in sport and in life.
From awareness to care pathways, policy and accountability
Addressing the “stigma-competence” paradox, the fear that seeking help for mental
health undermines athletic toughness (Castaldelli-Maia et al., 2023).
Utilizing gender-responsive sports environments to combat the disproportionate impact
of social media scrutiny and body-image-related mental health issues (Vargas et al.,
2024).
Shifting to Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) models where psychological support is
embedded directly into the coaching and medical workflow (Gouttebarge et al., 2023).
Integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria into club management
(Babiak & Trendafilova, 2011)
Leveraging mHealth and AI to bridge the accessibility gap in remote areas (ITU, 2020)
